For over 1000 years the population of the region has produced grapes and excellent wines, such as Egri Bikavér (Bull's Blood) and Egri Leányka (Girl of Eger). The oldest wine-cellars are more than 400 years old (Szépasszonyvölgy), but new ones are carved out of the mountain-side to this day. The Csárda, established from a wine cellar that has existed since 1778, is located in Szépasszony-völgy (Szépasszony Valley) in Eger. Our guests can taste the delicacies of Hungarian cuisine and taste fine Eger wine while listening to good gypsy music. Our "csárda", a first-class inn priding itself on a Patron’s Sign, is open all year round. 28 September Celebration of Bull-blood Good-Bye Evening Eger Liceum, College Do you know what does the bull think about? He would like to drink some wine, but only Eger Bull Blood Wine. Unfortunately it is not his turn…It is YOUR TURN! Come and taste Eger Town world-famous speciality! The Lyceum is the main building of Károly Eszterházy College that gives home for several events in the summer such as the Agria Plays. Two museums are in the building. One of them is the Diocesan Library with more than 140.000 books (the painting named "Convocation of Trident" can be seen on the ceiling of the library hall), and the other one is the astronomical museum where instruments of astronomy (made in the 18th century) can be seen. The Eye of Eger (Camera Obscura) can be found in the top of the tower of Lyceum. The handler of this structure presents the downtown from above. The whole town can be seen from the balcony of the tower (53 metres /170 feet/ high).
